To supplement or not to supplement, that is the question….

Time and time again I get asked, “What supplements should I be on to lose fat!?”

First of all, let me get one thing straight… There is no magic pill or shake!!!

If there were, I would be a billionaire and life style diseases would be abolished! Unfortunately, checking my bank account this morning and reading the latest stats on causes of death in Australia, they both show me that this is not the case.

Of the top 10 causes of death in Australia in 2009, 8 are lifestyle related; of the top 20, 14 are lifestyle related.

Since 2000, heart disease has been the leading cause of death followed by Cerebrovascular Disease (Strokes). Today, a major concern for health professionals has been the increasing number of people diagnosed with Type II Diabetes. So from reading these stats we can see that no matter what fad diet, shake or nutrition plan you are on at the moment, there is no quick fix.

But there is still hope!!!

What I can tell you is there are a few things I recommend to my clients to help them on this fat loss quest. I will never ever replace good wholesome foods but I will add nutrients in the form of supplements to their diets, which will fill in the gaps in their nutrition.

None of us eat perfectly and/or eat enough vegetables- I try my best but I’m sure there are days where even I fall short so this is when my top 4 supps come into play.

As usual, you guys need to think about your end goal. Fat loss nutrition and performance nutrition is very different so before heading to the supplement store please think about your goal!
