HOW TO BECOME AN ADVOCATE FOR DIABETES ALIVE

We are all aware that Diabetes is now a global health epidemic, however you would be surprised to know that many people don’t have a basic understanding of Diabetes, and how it can lead to serious, life threatening health conditions and even death.

If you are a diabetic, or you know someone that has diabetes, whether it is type 1, or type 2, and you would like to be an advocate for raising awareness, there are many ways this can be achieved.

SHARE YOUR STORY

Being a diabetic, or living with someone who lives with this chronic disease, at times can face certain stigma. Some people feel embarrassed, or even fear to openly speak about their condition and the daily struggles, and challenges they face living with Diabetes.

However, this can be one of the most powerful tools, being open and honest, can really inspire others while at the same time educate them and give them insights about diabetes. Another great way to educate people, about Diabetes, is to speak to family and friends, offer to speak at school assembly or community group gatherings and organisations.

GET INVOLVED

You can also continue to raise more awareness in your local area, and even further through your state, this can quiet easily be achieved by participating in local events or fundraisers.

If you would like more information on how to become a registered volunteer for Diabetes Alive, please contact us, and one of our staff, would be more than happy to assist you.

RAISE MONEY

Fundraising is the core of our organisation, through this vehicle, we are able to continue our work, in raising awareness, supporting advocacy and also supporting much needed research to find a cure.

Diabetes Alive has many ways you can help. Here are a few DIY suggestions from some of our current volunteers:
